Managing Solicitor, Light Associates (Glory Chambers)
Richard is both a legal practitioner and a legal-academic. He is a co-founder and managing director of Light Associates Unlimited. He also serves as the Managing Solicitor of Light Associates (Glory Chambers), a private law firm in Ghana.
Richard was called to the Ghanaian Bar in 2012 and has since practiced law in Ghana. He is a private legal practitioner with over 12 years rich experience in litigation (both civil and criminal), corporate and commercial practices, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and legal consultancy.
As a legal academic, Richard teaches Comparative Law, Media Law, and Legal Writing & Study Skills at the Faculty of Law, KNUST. He has previously taught Intellectual Property Law, Environmental Law, Business Law, Ghana Legal Methods & Research Methodology, and Hospitality & Tourism Law in the same institution. He has also taught several law courses at the Ghana Institute of Management of Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2020, Central University (2018-2020), and Institute of Human Resource Practitioners/Quick Human Resources Solutions (2013-2015/2017-2018). He has published journal articles, and book chapters and presented conference papers in his areas of research interest within and outside Ghana.
Richard is an award-winning author of 8 books and over 250 articles and op-eds on legal and non-legal themes. He is a Chevening Scholar, ALIncubator Scholar, and a Lausanne YLG2016 Participant. He is also a Certified Life and Leadership Coach.
Richard is a Doctoral Researcher at KNUST. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from KNUST and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Energy Law from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. He also holds a Certificate in AI and Human Rights in Africa from the Centre of Human Rights, University of Pretorial, South Africa.
